Had 4 games not been lost by conversions, Dogs would be top 4

As the late Jack Gibson said -Rugby league is a game of "ifs". If our team could score next to the posts, it would make conversions easier. Just look a t how many teams were having trouble hanging onto the ball up in Brisbane this weekend. It wasn't just us having an off day, or missing kicks...

    Andrew voss commentary

Not just the Dogs. Last week we were told a hundred times that Nicko Hynes was out of the Cronulla side. Every play by the Sharks, they reminded us that Hynes was missing from the team. They forgot that Storm were missing Hughes and Papa.

‘Small ball’ and a rugby league revolution: Are the Bulldogs back?

Changing the halfback would make a difference, but I suspect that Ciraldo will finally decide to do that well after he should have, and too late to make a difference to where we finish at season's end.

    Opinion Kikau was Concussed

I missed the game, but from watching the extended highlights and talking to people who saw the game, it appears that the whole team had an off night. We couldn't even beat a side that was down to 11 men at one stage, and gifted them two easy tries from mistakes. The whole game was a mistake...

Opinion The 6-agains and Penalties hurt Big Time ..

Yep. Souths are having the run of injuries that have kept the Dogs near the bottom of the table the past few seasons. On top of that, they are copping the same one sided refereeing. Watching a Bunnies game is like watching the Dogs last year.

Opinion The 6-agains and Penalties hurt Big Time ..

Two tries apiece. The difference came down to penalty kicks. What really riled me was that their repeat sets always seemed to be on the fourth or fifth tackle, giving them 11 - 12 continuous runs with the ball. We often seem to get our repeat sets on the first tackle, which is hardly any...

Wealthy Clubs Will Kill The Game

Great post. I heard about a team not far from the Dogs which offered a house to the kid's mother. Off the books, and something every young gun wants to for their mum.
  13. Chris Harding

Wealthy Clubs Will Kill The Game

The issue is that lower ranked clubs are forced to pay overs to keep the stars they have developed. Players will go to a club like the Roosters or Penrith for less money because it lifts their profiles and rep chances. So, the top clubs are effectively subsidised by the lower ranked clubs.

Two tries apiece. So defence was pretty even, considering the penalties and repeat sets went heavily in Penrith's favour; plus the Dogs gave them possession through simple errors. We also missed three tries from breaks that just didn't pay off. We won the second half two tries to nil, so it...

    Incredible Turnaround in Defence

    Incredible Turnaround in Defence

Look at Souths. They are in the same boat as us last year. Already conceded 250 points, and facing the Panthers next week. TIME TO SHOW TAAFFE SOME LOVE

Hutchison held us back today. Maybe he's there for his defence, but we could have piled on massive points with a decent halfback. Every time he tries to step the defence, they just stroll over and catch him.
  29. Chris Harding

This is the best we have looked in 5 years.

Taaffe showed his ability to read the play and set up tries. His nifty back pass to Crichton was a gem. Hutch would have died with the ball.

    Explanation on referring decision

Yep. But an amazing win was soured by the way the referee did all he could to keep the Knights in the game. Chooks had something like 70% possession in the second half. If you have the ball, being a man down is not a problem. But, we failed to make use of the overlap. For some reason the Dogs wanted to take on the Roosters forwards, instead of getting the ball out to our backs.

We said playing good and losing is still not winning.

And possession. We were starved of the ball in the second half. When we finally did get it, we scored. The Roosters have a champion team. Give them that much ball and they'll beat anyone. Being a player short doesn't much matter in attack.
