And yet a bottom team like us get
Parra
Cronulla
Tits
Souths
Roosters
Melbourne
In the first 8 games
Yep it’s a random draw by the NRL
Will always be unfair until it’s a full home and away draw. Even nba is the same. Will never be an equal comp without playing even team twice.

Or 2 different conferences? That might help even out the gross advantage/disadvantages we see now. It would add extra interest as well.

I always liked the idea of 2 different conferences. Because all the block buster games are normally sydney teams vs each other or queensland teams vs each other. But imagine having to play Roosters, Panthers, Cronulla, Parra, Souths twice who are generally fairly strong. Then miss out on some easier games.

The other option is make it a 22 team comp and you play each other once and you alternate on home teams every second year. But you will lose a lot of tv revenue because will be a shorter season. 16 teams 30 rounds seems too long for the powers that be. So it will always be a flawed system where some teams get easier games and others get harder.
