Actually the answer right at this moment is pretty simple.
We put Sexton in at 7.
Move Hutchinson to 13.
Drop Mann to 14.
Move Salmon to the bench 15.
Bring Preston back in at 12.

Why Burton does not run more? isn't it because we over relying upon his kicking with Hutchinson getting caught with the ball on the 5th. Looking around the league most 6 will run on 3rd or 4th but if Burton does that he must trust his 7 will be in place for the kick which is not there at this moment.
Hutch misses tackles at 7 and you move mann and put hutch at lock ok then lol

Obviously it was Hutcho fault that Xerri threw the forward pass to fox

Also hutcho fault that fox's kick in field went straight too edwards

Hutcho fault again when kiraz kicked in field and mahoney was offside

Was hutchos fault when burton dived for the ball and knocked it on and panthers pass to to'o who goes in for a try

Hutcho fault kikau knocks the ball on

Hutcho fault Sam Hughes knocks it on

Hutcho's fault etc. etc. etc....

Everything is Hutchos fault ???

Some of you guys are unbelievable
You forgot one ..Rain... he made it rain

Hutch is doing exactly what the coach is asking of him and what the team needs him to do. The team is really starting to work well together, why on earth would anyone want to change it now? Hopefully Sexton will get his chance at some point but not yet.

We aren’t exactly icing games we should be. Melbourne and Souths are two examples where both games were there for the taking

Getting back to the title of the thread. This is a very true statement in itself.

We have Ferrari’s in the backline and the petrol station feeding them doesn’t have the fuel to set them free.

Keeping Hutch at 7 is accepting mediocrity. Accepting that we have improved without wanting to take the next step and actually have a winning mentality. Not just to simply be competitive and try hard but just not quite be good enough.

IMO Hutch can play a role in the 17 but his time in the 7 needs to come to a head is we want to challenge for finals football. We need so much more out of our chief playmaker that he offers.

He is the new Kennel whipping guy along with Salmon.

The haters need to vent onto someone because all the deadwood is gone from previous years.

The Hutch is a solid option in a building year, people are talking as if we put Sexton in everything will magically click and we will get top 4 or some sort of miracle win streak.
Unfortunately the majority of supporters don’t understand the game very well. Solid defences can miss plenty of tackles. It’s more important to slow momentum and stop the line breaks. A lot of halves move up fast and allow others to wrap up the tackle. This makes the player look poor defensively but it’s in fact the opposite.

We haven’t looked this good in years. To change a team that has already had plenty of changes over the years is stupidity. Especially when the team is competing in every game.

Hutch will be gone when we find somebody better. But I don’t think that happens this year.

Let’s put it this way.

If Sexton or another player takes Hutches place at halfback. And we start losing games we should be winning. What do we do then?
