I was wondering how many people who are members of the kennel, have been supporters of the Dogs for a period of time. I myself was given membership to the club for my 21st birthday in 1974. This year would be 50 years since I became a member. Although it lapsed sometime ago. I did follow them prior to then and remember all the good times and bad. Bruce.

G’day mate.

Looks like you are a similar age to me, my 21st birthday was in January 1975.

I went to my first game in 1958. Thus I have seen the unlimited tackles, 4 tackle and 6 tackle eras.

Played my first game in 1962, and reffed my first game in 1970.

I‘m not a member anymore and I only go to games occasionally, but I am still passionate about the team, and hope to see them win another GF in the not too distant future.

Can't remember exactly the first game that I saw. I was born 1948, in a private hospital opposite Belmore Oval. My father used to put me on his shoulders to watch the game from the time I could walk. Didn't join as a member until my adult life.

Only a casual member these days, as the cost for a season ticket and parking is way more than for a Foxtel subscription. Travelling sees me miss watching some games these days. I'm off to the Gulf of Carpentaria today to host a tour of the Savannah district. Out of mobile range for much of the time.

Born at that hospital as well Chris. Enjoy your hosting of that tour :grinning:

I’ve been Bulldogs mad since I was 4 in 1985 and been a member since 2018. Any Dogs supporters living in Perth??

I was born in a little hospital across the street from Belmore Sports Ground (it's no longer there) in 1961 and was taken to my first game when I was about one or two years old...

I was told that private hospital was turned into a nursing home now? Is that so?

Just got back last night, wendog. A lot of rain and water damage up that way, but we got through despite a blown tyre on one coach and a blown clutch on another - both out of mobile range. The group were terrific. We had a great time.

Saw the highlights of the Tigers game when I got back to Cairns on Saturday evening. Let's see how we stack up against Penrith.

It's a great feeling to be once again hopeful about putting on a good show (at the very least)against opposition teams. This does not feel like a flash in the pan temporary resurgence. It's real. Dare to dream :grinning:

Got me intrigued now hehe. How were you able to fix the coach. Did a passing traveller go into town and alert a tow truck? Mobile mechanic who had a spare clutch on hand? How did you all save the day!

Done that trip in our van (have motorhome now) but seen the rail tour you do, a few times at a morning tea stop along the rail line. Looked like a good group of fun-loving oldies ready to help out if needed.

We are doing a trip up to Adels Grove soonish. You mentioned the rain/flood damage, how are the roads in general?

Roads are all passable, with road works under way. You might have to wait for stop/go lights but that should be all. The Savannah Way between Mt. Surprise and Georgetown is closed for night work, but open for daytime driving.

We changed the tyre on the coach ourselves. Myself, and a fit passenger, jacked the coach up and replaced the wheel. Lucky for us a passerby stopped and told us that Isuzu coaches have reverse threads on the left, or we'd be waiting for a road train (who have all the gear) to come along.

The coach that blew the clutch was unrepairable. A nearby property, Inorunie Station, took us in, and had satellite phones to contact Cobbold Gorge to get a replacement coach out to us. We finally arrived at the gorge at 9.00pm.

Gulflander gave us a good look over the train at Normanton, but are not running until next week. Savannahlander are running as far as Almaden, but Mareeba was the only station where we could arrange to meet up and have a ride into Cairns.

You will find the roads and destinations quiet at present. Not many people travelling after the rains. It's actually a good time to be travelling - as long as the places you visit have got their supplies in.

Enjoy your trip.
